Abstract

Care of asthmatic children and adolescents in their community is the cornerstone of Community-based intervention. This model implies pediatric health teams, working in primary care, and making effective that intervention in coordination with second level (hospital), community resources and school. Since early ninetieth, in Principality of Asturias (Spain) a lot of programs were developed following this model, and a great number of professionals and institutions have been involved. This process culminates with the Regional Children and Adolescent Asthma Plan. This paper reviews the steps given in Asturias during this process.
