Abstract

Dengue is an infectious disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, and represents a public health problem in México; vertical transmission is rare and may occur at any stage of pregnancy so the diagnosis should be considered in children of mothers with suggestive picture of dengue.

Here we describe the case of a newborn who has compatible clinical findings with neonatal dengue, confirming the vertical transmission with NS1 antigen detection. Likewise, a brief review based on the cases reported in the scientific literature is made.
