Abstract

There are several models of children?s health care provision in Europe and North America; paediatricians, general practitioners, nurses and other professionals take part in very different ways, and with results of difficult valuation. Which model is best? Do we know? In the United Kingdom, the model is based in what services children and families need, rather than what professionals think they ought to get or want to provide. In this paper I will attempt to answer the questions posed, describe the changes in the development of health care for children over the past decade and relate the lessons learned.
