Abstract

The AIDS epidemic affects more than 40 million people in the world, more than 90 % of them living in subsaharian Africa. Three million people die every year due to AIDS, and 700.000 of them are children. The lack of access to therapy and the lack of appropriate pediatric formulations make us fear that this humanitarian catastrophe will be even worse in the near future, unless effective strategies are put in practice.
