Abstract

Objectives: To determinate the parents? opinions about sleep habits of their children and their satisfaction with them. To compare this group with a previous one and to know what sleep habits are associated with parents? satisfaction. Methods: Survey to parents of children between 4-15 months of age who were coming to our Centre for health controls before and after providing them educational advices about sleep problems. Results: Both samples are homogeneous in age, sex and situation in the group of siblings. The frequency of sleep disorders was similar in both groups (43,7% before, 42,1% after). The satisfaction of parents was associated with the ability of their children to go sleep on their own, in less than 15 minutes and without waking up or waking up twice or less. Conclusions: From this study we concluded that it would be necessary provide parents educational advises about prevention of sleep problems in children from Primary Health Care, in order to change the frequency of this problems in a medium or long time.
