Abstract

Background: A new oral rehydration solution is recently avaible in Spain. This solution has the advantage to follow the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition recommendations, to be flavored and to be liquid. Objetive: To determine the taste acceptance of this new rehydration solution, as compared with a traditional powered solution, in healthy children. Methods: A double blind study with 45 children older than five years old. These children were offered both rehydration solution and were asked to rate their taste as bad, acceptable or good. Results: No difference on taste acceptance was found on either rehydration solution. There was a tendency among older children to rate poorly the taste of both rehydration solution.
