Abstract

Constipation continues being one of the most frequent problems in both general pediatric and gastroenterology clinics, especially during the first year of life.

Treatment regimes have completely varied in the last decade, being osmotic laxatives and stimulants the most used nowadays. Polyethylenglycol is a newly available laxative that is widely used for both disimpactation and maintenance. The main purpose of this document is to determine its effectiveness and security.
