Abstract
The Declaration of Helsinki was agreed upon in 1964, with the impetus of the World Medical Association. Since then it has had a major impact on the development of biomedical research worldwide. The Declaration of Helsinki has been revised and amended seven times, the last in October 2024. Its main purpose is to outline the ethical principles that all biomedical research involving human subjects must observe, in order to preserve rigor, integrity, transparency and respect for the rights and interests of the people participating in the research. This text briefly describes the new features of the recently published version.
