Abstract

Infantile hemangioma is the most common benign vascular tumor of childhood. It is not always necessary to treat it, but when indicated, the treatment of choice to reduce its size is propranolol. However, there are factors, some better known than others, that can favor the growth of the hemangioma, thus, salbutamol, which in turn is a drug of important daily use in consultations, is capable of inducing a regrowth of the hemangioma. This is because it is a selective beta2-adrenergic agonist, and its action causes vasodilation through the release of nitric oxide, in addition to stimulating the synthesis of proangiogenic factors.
