Neuropsychologyc syndromes of development: a Primary Care introduction and approach

Cognitive disorders of development are those that appear, with or without a known reason, during the course of childhood development and affect mainly the cognitive realm (memory, attention, learning, etc.). Sometimes, these deficits take place during the course of a neurological or psychiatric disease, but for this seminar we will concern ourselves with those deficits that are primarily cognitive and those which are not clearly linked to a specific disease that have a concrete medical diagnosis.

The goal of this seminar is to introduce the AP paediatrician to cognitive deficits during development, so the AP paediatrician can use processes of detection and exploration, in order to better discern whether to send the patient to a specialist if necessary.
