Abstract

It?s a stated fact that many children during their first five years of life suffer inevitably from some kind of accidents so much at home as outside, but most accidents are mild with regard to their prognosis. Accidents during childhood are the first cause of death in industrialised countries and with reference to Spain, it must be underlined that they are the fourth cause of death in children 1 year old, the second cause of death in children 2 years old and the first one in children 4 years old. By order of frequency: car accidents, drowning (by submersion) and falls. The prevention of the most frequent and important accidents (car, bicycle, motorcycle, etc.) is reviewed.
