Abstract

One third of the world population, which represent two thousand million people, do not have regular access to the essential drugs and vaccines. Prohibitive prices, related to patents monopoly, underproduction of potentially life-saving drugs and insufficient Investigation and Development of Neglected Diseases are among the causes explaining this lack of access. The will of politicians, the World Health Organisation, pharmaceutics companies, patients associations and physicians, working all together is needed to improve this situation.
