Abstract
The Declaration of Helsinki was adopted in 1964 on the initiative of the World Medical Association. Since then, it has been revised and amended seven times, most recently in October 2024. Its main purpose is to outline the ethical principles that all biomedical research involving human subjects must adhere to in order to maintain rigour, integrity and transparency and respect the rights and interests of human research participants. This text briefly describes the changes introduced in the recently published revision.
