Abstract

Hair-thread tourniquet syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by hair or thread wrapping around an appendage, resulting in constriction. It usually occurs in children, especially under age 1 year, and chiefly involves the fingers or toes, although other parts of the body may also be affected. Its early diagnosis and early treatment are essential to avoid progressive oedema of the affected area, which can lead to ischaemia or even tissue necrosis, if the compression is not released in time.
