Abstract

Cohort studies and case-control studies are the most commonly observational studies used in Epidemiology. There are hybrid designs based on the formers, such us the nested case-control studies and the case and cohort study. Both types have some advantages over the original studies, as is the more efficient management of large samples, especially when the incidence of the disease under study is low.
